Nicki Minaj Talks Wanting to Quit Rap and Never Returning to Twitter
The line between Nicki Minaj’s offline personality and on-stage persona is getting thinner and thinner. In a caricatured voice, Nicki spoke honestly to UK radio host Tim Westwood about the emotional toll the music industry has put on her.
The drama surrounding Nicki’s Twitter retirement caused many to speculate that the negative criticism has gotten to the Young Money femcee. When Westwood addressed the issue—and relentlessly begged her to return to the Twitterverse—Nicki took a moment to think, but quickly responded with “no” in her rendition of a British accent.
And if this recent Twitter hiatus hasn’t proved that our hip hop Barbie is pulling on the brakes, her blatantly threatening “leaving the game” statement might.
Citing a general lack of appreciation for her latest album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, Nicki believes she deserved more love, and especially more “props for taking it back to the essence.”
‘This is my fourth mixtape really,” she comments further in what sounds like a Lil Wayne impersonation. “You know what I’m saying. The Kid did like that so she could feed her fans. But really, now the Kid is thinking maybe she should leave the game.” --Tanya Chen & Iyana Robertson
