What to Do When Your Man Loses or Leaves His Job
When news broke that Lamar Odom chucking the deuces to the Dallas Mavericks, I immediately thought, "What will Khloe do?"
Naturally, I feel for the youngest Dash sister; however, from the looks of Khloe and Lamar, the doting wife will see him through the tough decision. Vixens, take notes! Sometimes your man gets to a place where he wants to shift career gears or he, unfortunately, got the boot at work. Either way, you must assume a certain role and remain strong through it all--wife or girlfriend.
Do not bitch or nag! (Come on, you know we do this.)
As much as any woman hates to see her man jobless and to know her man is lounging at home while she's at work, here's your chance to exercise understanding. Honestly, it's rough for a man to not be the head of household, so don't highlight that he's not working.
He wants to chase another dream? Leave basketball and become a chef, maybe? Then let him do just that. Show him that you're on board by researching the best ways to flex his new interests. Furthermore, make sure to point out that it's not about the money, it's about his happiness.
Make sure he feels like a man!
I don't want to hear it, ladies. Often times, we emasculate men as the first sign of weakness, and that's not fair! If he insists on paying, let him! Continue to let him handle the things he was before, even if it's not financial. Don't assume that because he doesn't have a paycheck that he doesn't have balls! Try not to step up so much that you forget your role.
Be mindful of your spending!
Although you don't want to necessary point out the holes in your man's income, don't maintain the same spending habits. Taking on a "he still better take care of me" attitude will only lead to heated arguments and a crumbling relationship. Penny pinch where you can.
Keep the love up!
Don't forget to cuddle, do date night and sex him up! You're the same couple you always were, and the extra loving will let him know that you'll always hold him down 🙂
