G. Dep Sentenced 15 to Life For ’93 Shooting

The verdict is in, and Harlem rapper G. Dep will spend at least 15 years in prison.

Tuesday (May 8) the 37-year-old got the minimum sentence for the 1993 NYC armed robbery and killing of John Henkel. In December 2010, Dep, whose real name is Trevell Coleman, went into the 25th precinct and confessed of the shooting, unaware that Henkel lost his life he knew things would be taking a turn for the worst.

“When they told me, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m not going home after this,’” he told the NY Post back in 2010. The “Special Delivery” artist was found guilty after a five day trial.
