Macy’s to Carry Lil Wayne’s “Trukfit” Clothing Line

Macy’s to Carry Lil Wayne’s “Trukfit” Clothing Line

Trukfit is making its way to a Macy’s near you. The street-wear clothing line, created by Lil Wayne, will be up for retail at the historic department store starting tomorrow (June 1).

Trukfit is Lil Wayne’s ode to skateboarding culture and will feature items ranging from hats to sweatshirts for both men and boys. According to brand director Mike Morris, in a statement to Hip Hop Wired, “Trukfit is a state of mind.”

“It is about being oneself, having fun, being free and being able to express all these elements,” Morris continued. “We are thrilled to be able to offer Trukfit at Macy's, an iconic retailer with as much as energy and heart as our brand. Lil Wayne is a favorite rapper and Macy's is a favorite shopping destination – a perfect fit!”

Lil Wayne is expected to make appearances at a few Macy’s locations once the partnership launches. However, starting today (May 31), the first 150 fans to purchase $75 worth of clothing from Trukfit or DGK products, from skateboarder and Wayne's friend Stevie Williams, will receive an opportunity to meet both starts at the Los Angeles Beverly Center.

Trukfit will be available at both Macy's and Macys.com.

He Won: Lil Nas X Teams Up With Wrangler for Capsule Collection

Lil Nas X's clever Wrangler name drop on his No. 1 hit "Old Town Road" has resulted in a limited edition capsule collection with the denim retailer.

Announced Monday (May 20), the Wrangler Lil Nas X Collection comes in conjunction with Columbia Records and features behind the scenes gems from his cameo-heavy "Old Town Road (Remix)" music video. Importantly, the pieces are actually stylish with tees baring his name in various styles and shorts with Wrangler written on the booty.

Wrangler's site notes the capsule is inspired by the hit song and "offers fresh remixes of classic Wrangler styles for the kind of modern cowboy that can’t be put in a box."

"As an iconic brand in fashion, we have shown up in music, film, and popular culture for decades, but this is the first time our jeans are actually the key to unlocking a behind-the-scenes look at the making of a chart-topping hit,” Jenni Broyles, VP/GM of Wrangler North America, said in a statement to Complex. “We’re incredibly excited about the success of ‘Old Town Road’ and our partnership with Lil Nas X. It is another great example of the power music – and in our case, fashion – has to unite and inspire us all.”

The collection is also fairly priced with items ranging from $39 to $139. It's easy to applaud the 20-year-old as he's beat the genre odds with "Old Town Road." The song, which was originally removed from the Country Billboard charts, has been the No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks.

The Georgia rapper recently announced on Saturday (May 18) that his first EP, 7, will arrive in June. Lil Nas X didn't share much about what his "stans" and other listeners could expect from his upcoming project, but assumptions can be made from his Instagram posts featuring fellow artists like country singer Austin Michaels, Noah Cyrus and Kelly Rowland.

Stars Don Their Monday Best For 2019 Met Gala: See Our Favorite 'Fits

The Met Gala is always the fashion event of the year, and 2019 is certainly no different. As expected, the stars in attendance were able to let their guard down in order to revel in the celebrations, which took place at the Met on Monday, May 6.

This year’s theme is “Notes On ‘Camp.’” According to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s website, the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition “will explore the origins of camp's exuberant aesthetic. Susan Sontag's 1964 essay "Notes on 'Camp'" provides the framework for the exhibition, which examines how the elements of irony, humor, parody, pastiche, artifice, theatricality, and exaggeration are expressed in fashion.”
