Jada Pinkett-Smith Reveals Her Skinny Secret: “I Don’t Eat For Pleasure”

The former leading lady of medical drama “Hawthorne” should know that eating healthy is good for the body, but Jada Pinkett-Smith is not one to indulge.

“I don’t eat for pleasure,” she told ESSENCE magazine. She cited her non-cooking West Indian grandmother as the reason.

“She was an awful cook, and she taught me that you don’t eat for taste, you eat for nourishment,” the star said. “And I have kept that over the years, so I can eat anything that’s healthy.”

Though she admits french fries and pizza together are her guiltiest pleasures, the 40-year-old’s insane schedule is also the reason behind her healthier tastes. “I eat for my schedule so I have to eat high-protein, lots of greens and healthy carbs so that I don’t fall flat on my face.”

She may need to keep that energy up for a possible film that her and her hubby Will Smith will be starring in together. Pinkett-Smith said he’s just as excited as she is. “He can’t wait. He was like, ‘You and me, next.’ I was like. . . ‘Let’s do it!”

For now, she’s promoting her latest feature in Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted out June 8.
