Lil Wayne Speaks On Pulling Nicki Minaj Out of Hot 97’s Summer Jam

After Nicki Minaj’s no show at Hot 97’s Summer Jam, the “Pink Friday” emcee was given a bad rap for letting Lil Wayne call the shots. Now Weezy is setting the record straight and taking the heat for his female protégée, declaring his decision to pull Minaj from the show the right one after the infamous Peter Rosenberg diss. “First of all I approached the situation like this. That’s a female. First and foremost, Nicki Minaj is a female. I don’t know what anyone else believe but I believe females deserve the ultimate respect at all time, no matter what, when or how,” Wayne told MTV News. “As soon as she called me and told me she felt disrespected, I just declined everything,” he recalls. “I pulled her from the show because no person that works with me would be disrespected in my presence as long as I’m on this planet.” The YMCMB CEO says there’s no bad blood between him and the radio station (though the liner notes in his 2004 “Tha Carter” album would state differently) because it was an executive move. “She’s a female first and foremost so I expect the red carpet or in her manner, the pink carpet to be laid out for her,” Wayne said. “No salt. No bad feelings. No hard feelings. In my opinion she said she was disrespected. I feel like a woman should be respected at all times, therefore I made the right decision.“
