DAY26 Announces Split, Will Focus On Individual Projects

It seems like just yesterday we were all cheering our television sets for Willie, Robert, Brian, Mike (and even Que) on MTV's 'Making The Band 4.'

After being together for nearly five years (though Que had left the group in 2009 due to a conflict of interests), the band Day26 announced its decision Monday (July 16) to part ways.

Read their official statement below.

“It is with great sadness and deep pain that we regret to inform you that effective immediately, Atlantic Records Platinum recording group, DAY26 have decided to take a break from the group and focus on their own individual projects. On behalf of all the members; Willie, Mike, Rob, Brian and even Que, we would like to thank all of the “fams” aka fans, dj’s across the world, promoters, radio programmers, Bad Boy Entertainment, Starstruck Management, BET, VH1 and FUSE and all DAY26 supporters in general, for your unending support throughout these years.

We would also like to acknowledge that this journey would have not been made possible without the vision and mastermind of Sean “Diddy” Combs and of course MTV Networks for making a group of unknown men, the stars that they are today.

We simply thank you from the bottom of our hearts and really want you to know that the journey does not end here. We continue to wish each other the very best and continued success in all of our individual endeavors, and all we ask of you is to please give each member a chance and the opportunity to shine in whatever they do.

…And as the saying goes, this is not a goodbye, but a simply see you later.

God bless you all,

Much Love, DAY26."

Rich The Kid Introduces His New Group, 83 Babies With "No Cap" Video

Back in 2013, Coach K of Quality Control brought a buzzin' rap trio through to the VIBE offices. Migos' "Fight Night" was a club hit and "Versace" with Drake was ruling the game. He announced Quavo and Takeoff, but the third member looked different from the pics we saw previously. "This is Rich The Kid," he stated calmly. "He's rolls with us." Rich wasn't known heavily at that point, but what we determined by his easy going nature and ability to network was this kid is a star, or soon will be.

The smartest thing about that whole scene was how Coach K did a great press run for the Migos as a trio, even with Offset locked up at the time. Having Rich The Kid roll with them accomplished the mission of keeping the Migos' look as a trio annnnd establishing another new artist at the same time. As the relationship didn't materialize as Rich being on Quality Control, it provided the youngin' valuable knowledge on the game and how to do roll outs and such. Thus, Rich The Kid's own Rich Forever Music label being born a few years ago. With enormous success on his own with hits and tours under his belt, the New York native turned Georgia repper started signing up talent. Most notable acts Famous Dex and Jay Critch signed with Rich bolstering his start up company (established in 2016) to fast recognition.

Now in the same way that Rich was introduced to VIBE, 83 Babies are following suit. A few months ago the North Carolina trio, with strikingly similar sounds to Migos', came through the office with a visiting Rich The Kid, who was playing our team some of his unreleased album cuts. We got a chance to kick it with Lil Tony, Set It Off and Young Boss Tevo for a sec. With their minds taking in the atmosphere, we learned that they were in a tug-of-war state as various labels were vying for their talent. Judging from the Rich announcement of 83 Babies being signed to Rich Forever Music this past March, the fellas made their choice.

With co-signs from the Migos and many others, 83 Babies have a clear shot at success. The trap rap "No Cap" single and video finds the group stating just who they are in their music, real dudes that happen to rhyme. Slated to open up on Rich The Kid's "The World Is Yours 2" tour, the three MCs will learn about traveling the country for fans that have never seen you up close. We are sure they are more than ready.

Federal Prosecutors Reportedly Claim Kodak Black Is A Danger To Society

Kodak Black entered a not guilty plea Wednesday (May 15) in response to federal weapons charges stemming from his latest arrest, but prosecutors in the case are reportedly trying to keep him in jail arguing that he’s a potentially dangerous given his lengthy criminal history.

According to initial reports, the 21-year-old rapper was granted release on $550,000 bond with house arrest, and his $600,000 mansion was used as collateral. However, prosecutors filed documents claiming that the Florida native should remain locked up because he is likely to flee and is known to disregard probation restrictions, TMZ reports.

During a court hearing earlier this week prosecutors told the judge that, “Wherever he goes there’s going to be guns, drugs and shootings.”

Kodak’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, pointed out that his current arrest was related to “paperwork” as he allegedly lied on gun applications. Furthermore, Cohen noted that if authorities truly felt that his client was a danger to society than he should have been arrested in January, when he filled out the paperwork.

Miami-Dade police arrested Kodak on the way to the Rolling Loud Miami Festival last weekend. He was also arrested last month on drug and gun charges at the Canadian border.

Kodak, whose birth name is Dieuson Octave but legally changed his name to Bill Kapri, was out on bail for charges in South Carolina where he is accused of sexually assaulting a high school student in 2016. His bail could be revoked given the new weapons charges. If convicted in the rape case he faces up to 30 years.
