General Motors Goes Back to Facebook for Ads
Days before Facebook announced its IPO this past spring, car manufacturer General Motors pulled their advertisements from the social media giant.
Claiming that Facebook ads don't work, GM is now crawling back to the popular site for a second chance a month and a half later. The split was thought to have caused the site's poor stock market performance.
Anonymous sources say that Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg is currently in talks with Chief Executive Officer Dan Akerson about restarting GM’s campaign. Though no specifics of the deal have been released, one key element has been a proper return on investment.
According to Yahoo! Finance, Facebook's third-party usage, which allows advertisers to buy ads targeting FB users based on their activity outside the side, is what's piquing the car company's interest.
Only time will tell if the former partners merge again.
