Mariah Carey Set to Star in New Movie Alongside Oprah
Mariah Carey is moving from the small screen to the big screen all in the same year. After it was announced that she will be featured as a judge for American Idol’s season 12, the Vulture reported that Mariah will star alongside Oprah in a new movie.
The R&B vocalist is reuniting with Precious director-Lee Daniels in his upcoming flick, The Butler, a decades-spawning White House tale. While it’s unclear who she’ll play, Carey will also act alongside Forrest Whitaker, John Cusack (as Nixon), Jane Fonda (as Nancy Reagan), and many others from Hollywood’s elite.
Mariah Carey made her acting debut back in 1999 in the Renée Zellweger romantic comedy, The Bachelor. She received critical acclaim in 2009 for her role in Precious.
