Drake Confirms Working on New Aaliyah Album
After shocking the crowd with his star-studded OVO Fest, Drake spoke on his homecoming and the posthumous Aaliyah album.
"People should be real excited," Drizzy told Much Music about the Aaliyah release, "Enough Said," he put out Sunday. "People thought it was my single, it's not my single. It's all off an Aaliyah project that me and 40 are commanding. 40 is just doing some incredible music. To get 13, 14 new Aaliyah songs, everyone should be excited."
"It's not about me. It's not about 40," October's Very Own added. "It's really about her and her fans and us just getting the opportunity to give you something we feel is great."
"And all the people around her, everybody from her family to her old management and label were just like 'That if there's anybody who can do it right now, it's me and 40 and that was an honor."
After sources confirmed that Timbaland, who worked closely with the late singer, would be involved, Drake said they're trying to get 'classic people' involved. "Anybody who was essential to her career, we definitely hope to have on there."
"It's great. We get a new Aaliyah album on top of everything."
