Hit-Boy Says G.O.O.D. Music Is Still Working on ‘Cruel Summer’

While Kanye and the G.O.O.D. Music family have done their fair share to heat up the summer, it looks like their debut album has been pushed back a little further.

Ye’s longtime friend and collaborator Malik Yusef confirmed last week that the project needed more time to work out the guest features. Online retailer Amazon also changed its release of the Cruel Summer LP to Sept. 18. Originally, Kanye announced the project would be released on Sept. 4.

In a recent interview with VIBE.com, G.O.O.D. Music producer Hit-Boy confirmed that he was heading out to Hawaii to finish the project with the team.

“We’re going to be out there for a little bit just helping Kanye finish upCruel Summer and helping Kanye do his new ideas for his new stuff,” Hit-Boy tells VIBE. “Just fine tuning. Everybody’s adding their last little input. And verses here and there. It’s going to be crazy I can tell you that.”

Kanye has been known to be the most creative while locking in his whole team on the tropical island. But for Hit, the experience will be a brand new one.

“I’ve never been [to Hawaii]. I started messing with [Kanye] after that process,” Hit-Boy says. [But] with ‘Ye it’s always a movie.”

When asked if he would also be rapping on Cruel Summer, the West Coast native says it’s all up to the man in charge.

At press time Def Jam has not yet released an official statement.
