JetBlue Pilot Suffers Psychotic Episode In Prison

The JetBlue pilot who forced a cross-country flight into an emergency landing with his insane meltdown in March suffered a psychotic episode in prison, a federal judge says.

According to the Associated Press, Clayton Osbon was found not guilty for his interference with a flight crew by reason of insanity. A neuropsychologist had testified that Osbon had a “brief psychotic disorder” at the time of the flight due to lack of sleep.

Though Osbon was supposed to attend a hearing this week to determine whether he would be released or sent to a mental health facility, District Judge Mary Lou Robinson said he suffered a ‘brief psychotic episode’ in prison Wednesday,

The former pilot is being held in federal prison in North Carolina. Robinson says more time is needed to assess his mental state before he can be sentenced.
