Vixen Day Out: Everyday People Brunch in Brooklyn
This past weekend, Vixen got the pleasure of kicking back on a Saturday with massive spunk and grace. Though it wasn't our first time in attendance, this go-around of the monthly Everyday People Brunch goes down in the books for most memorable.
The Everyday People Brunch is a monthly day party started by founders Saada Ahmed, celebrity chef Roble Ali, Cherie Camacho and DJ Moma in April 2012. The brunch fuses different walks of life together in one space for daytime mimosas, signature Roble dishes and 90s' feel-good jams to boogie down to.
This past weekend went down at The DL in LES and was hosted by Saada and Roble, with guest co-host Gito. Music was provided by DJ Moma and special guest Dev Hynes of Blood Orange. Throughout the evening, the brunch brought out some familiar faces, including Solange Knowles, Alexa Chung and UGK's own Bun B. There were also a gang full of supermodels, designers and industry tastemakers present as well.
"I think what inspired me to start this was having a day time party for the downtown crowd," stated Ahmed. "There were party brunches in the Meatpacking District, but I didn't necessarily identify with them, so I decided to curate a unique experience with friends that offers a music selection of Old School, R&B and Hip-Hop. The experience is very much about conversation, dancing and food set in a non-pretentious environment."
