Gunplay Gets $150,000 Bond And House Arrest
Things seem to be looking up for Gunplay.
The Maybach Music rapper was given $150,000 bond and house arrest Monday in connection to a robbery that took place in April, his attorney Michael Grieco said.
The arrest warrant for the 33-year-old rapper says that he (real name Richard Morales) and codefendant Randy Jones allegedly robbed a man at a Miami tax business, swiping a gold chain and cell phone. Morales faces charges of second charge of aggravated assault with a firearm and armed robbery with a firearm, NBC's Miami affiliate reports. The warrant, filed May 18, says he struck the victim several times on the head and threatened him with a handgun. He also fled the scene.
"The state did not prove that Mr. Morales was a flight risk or a threat to the community,” said Grieco in an email statement. “He should be home with his family shortly. This is first step in clearing his name so he can continue his emerging music career.”
The incident comes after the BET Awards fiasco Gunplay was supposedly involved in with members of 50 Cent's entourage.
