Missy Elliott Celebrates 15-Year Anniversary of ‘Supa Dupa Fly’ With FuseTV
This year marks the 15-year anniversary of Missy Elliott‘s Supa Dupa Fly, the debut album that catapulted the rapper/singer/producer extraordinaire into superstardom.
In a sitdown with FuseTV, Missy reminisced on making the video for “The Rain” with famed director Hype Williams and why it was responsible for a lot of her success. ”It was like a puzzle because if you didn’t get the record, once you saw the visual, it made all the sense in the world,” she states. “I think it kind of told you who I was.”
She also goes on to talk about how much more she appreciates the record today for its futuristic and incomparable sound. “Everything about it. You hadn’t heard it before. Even the rap flows was different. I think it was 10 years ahead, 15 years ahead [of its time].”
As for her upcoming album, which is untitled as of now, we can expect more groundbreaking music, including a possible 2012 version of “Not Tonight (Ladies Night Remix).”
