DJ Chuckie Talks to VIBE - The Dirty Dutch Exodus

FROM ARUBA TO AMSTERDAM, DJ-PRODUCER AND PARTY SPARKER CHUCKIE IS TAKING HIS ECLECTIC BASH AROUND THE GLOBE AND BACK

It's the height of October’s Amsterdam Dance Event and Clyde Sergio Narain—aka Chuckie—is prepping for a nine-hour set behind the decks. In one hour, the 34-year-old Dutch DJ will hijack the city’s Ziggo Dome to rattle 15,000 fans as part of his annual Dirty Dutch fest. The arena gathering, set to the backdrop of schizo light productions, welcomes a genre-mashing throng that rages till 8 a.m. With a London event set for December 8 at Brixton Academy, Chuckie breaks down his international club campaign.

VIBE: What makes Dirty Dutch different from other electro exhibitions?
CHUCKIE: It’s totally different. This year, because the Dutch hip-hopscene has gone so well, I wanted to have them onstage with me. I made the crossover between big producers from the States and big producers from [Amsterdam], so I invited Just Blaze, who’s done hits for Jay-Z, to team up with Reverse, one of the biggest producers from Holland. I thought that was a really good best of both worlds.

Your style is very hip-hop-driven electronic. How do you fuse the two?
I started out with hip-hop and took that whole attitude, and then house. I tried to incorporate all the styles I grew up with, even Latin music. Jermaine Dupri was one of the first guys that was into my music. Then Lil Jon called, Missy Elliott. I think because it had a hip-hop background, they could relate to the story. This is why Dirty Dutch is also successful—because we appeal to a bigger crowd.

How will Dirty Dutch expand in the future?
I use the brand as a platform to establish new artists worldwide. I did Dirty Dutch [in Aruba] and had Just Blaze and Akon hanging out with Jasmine Villages. We had 8,000 people, and that’s like 10 percent of the island; that’s a big deal. We’re looking at building studios there, so the kids have a better chance to make it in the music market.

Bernie Sanders Drops Out Of The 2020 Election

Bernie Sanders had decided to drop out of the 2020 presidential campaign, he announced today (April 8).

The Vermont senator's 2020 election started off strong. He barely missed first place in Iowa before excelling in New Hampshire and Nevada. Also, Sanders campaign continued to bring in millions in donations and filled rallies with supporters.

Running as a progressive against Hillary Clinton in 2016, Sanders popularized the plan for Medicare for All. In 2020, however, many candidates ran on similar policies, and he faced another prominent progressive in Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who was the first to propose canceling some student debt in April. Warren surged above Sanders in the fall, before he suffered a heart attack in October.

Sanders 2020 bid, saw him working to gain more support among Latino voters. But despite years of support among the Black community, the senator failed to earn large votes. He also lost some of his white working-class supporters to Biden.

Sanders also hit a roadblock with women voters, after facing accusations of sexism in January after tensions between his and Warren's campaigns spilled out into the open. For the most part, Sanders and Warren were allies while campaigning for the nomination, however leaks to the media of both senators accusing the other camp of dirty tricks concluded with Warren saying in a statement that Sanders once told her he didn't think a woman could win the presidency.

Sanders denied the claim, but he was flogged with further criticism of his supporters who were dubbed the "Bernie Bros" after female union leaders in Nevada who spoke out against his candidacy said they were attacked by his fans.

Biden capitalized on all of this, and easily won in five of the six states that voted, included Michigan, which was a state Sanders was popular in.

Today I am suspending my campaign. But while the campaign ends, the struggle for justice continues on. https://t.co/MYc7kt2b16

Cast of 'Hamilton' Surprises Young Fan On John Krasinski's 'Good News Network' Show

John Krasinski has brought smiles to The Office Fans with the launch of his creative Some Good News show on YouTube but the actor took things to another level by reuniting the original cast of Hamilton to surprise a nine-year-old girl.

Aired late Sunday (April 5), Krasinski welcomed Aubrey to the show after her parents shared how their daughter watched Emily Blunt's Mary Poppins Returns after she was unable to fly to New York to see Hamilton on Broadway. While social distancing is a brief new normal, Blunt who is married to Krasinski popped into their Zoom interview to surprise Aubrey.

But the good news didn't stop there. Krasinski then promised Aubrey he would fly her family to New York to see Hamilton once Broadway opens its doors. And miraculously, he managed to reunite the entire cast where they performed "Alexander Hamilton."

Lin-Manuel Miranda, Daveed Diggs, Okieriete Onaodowan, Leslie Odom Jr., Anthony Ramos, Jonathan Groff and more shocked the 9-year-old, who was left speechless during the performance.

Elsewhere in the broadcast, Krasinski shared good news from around the world, including many fans making their own version of the show. Robert De Niro also shares the weather in a very De Niro kind of way.

Krasinski, who also stars alongside Blunt in The Quiet Place, created the Some Good News show to prove positive news always wins. His first guest was none other than Steve Carell with the two talking about the 15th anniversary of the iconic Office series.

Enjoy the good news above.
