Top 5 Blasians in the Game
The Asian persuasion is definitely hitting an all-time high and specifically in the urban community of music, fashion, and TV. The latest shot callers are awesomely African American (Black) and of Asian descent.
For the longest time, it was mainly Korean-African American singer Amerie (or now stylized as Ameriie) that was representing, as well as video model Tae Heckard. Since, new Blasians are blossoming on the scene! Here's a list of five beautiful biracial butterflies to continue keeping an eye on!--Carmen Shardae Jobson
1. Karrueche Tran (Vietnamese and African American)
Still known for being Chris Brown's first serious girlfriend since Rihanna, the aspiring, baby-faced model has slowly been making a name for herself as an all-around girl about town and L.A. fashionista (she has a growing and enviable wardrobe that consists of Alexander Wang bags, Versace boots, and Isabel Marant sneakers).
Relatively quiet as far as speaking directly to the media, Tran's profile definitely grew once she unwillingly got caught up in that Chrianna love.
Lawton is a hot-headed hottie who has modeled for music videos and dabbled in acting. She's notorious for having a potty-mouth as exhibited during her various interviews posted on YouTube, and her spot on real-life bestie Eva Marcille's Oxygen show Girlfriend Confidential LA.
Though, don't be too mislead by her bad girl ways; she was once a core member of the assistant divisions over at Warner Bros. Records and 20th Century Fox. This misbehaved woman is making her mark in entertainment history!
3. Jhene Aiko (Japanese/Native American/Afro-Dominican/African American)
Aiko has gained a loyal fanbase due to the calming tunes from her memorable mixtape sailing soul(s) and original association with the boy band B2K.
Now, fully preparing to release her anticipated debut Souled Out next year, the current spokesmodel for Beats by Dre headphones is one talented songstress that's less about a gaudy showcase and more about having an authentic connection to her fans. Also check out her features on songs with Big Sean, Ab-Soul, and Black Hippy.
Diddy's not-so-secret main squeeze has been around for awhile, but lately she's really stepped up her game in gaining modeling contracts with the likes of Calvin Klein and Carol's Daughter, and photo shoots for major glossies like GQ and V.
She's still keeping a foot in the music door, as she unleashed an electro/R&B single "King of Hearts"and is working on her Rock-A-Bye Baby mixtape. Cassie earned a major boost in collaborating with Nicki Minaj on their pop-rap hit "The Boys."
5. Kevin McCall (Chinese and Black)
Ladies; this one's really for you. The Tyson Beckford of hip-hop, McCall is a lean, mean chocolate bar. (Talk about swoon-worthy!) He's a skilled artist with lots of songwriting and producing credits, as you probably remember his cameo on Chris Brown's for the club people hit "Strip". He's currently in Keke Palmer's video for "You Got Me" and his own song "Naked."
Until his album drops in 2013, hit up Google Images to sustain your fantasies of Mr. McCall. #Yum
