Man’s Powerball Hoax Goes Viral On Facebook

Don’t always believe what you see, especially on Facebook.

Social site user Nolan Daniels decided to virtually cash in on the Powerball craze by posting a photo of himself with what looks like the winning ticket, offering a million to each person that re-posted the pic, the Huffington Post reports.

The public photo, which seemed like a legit slice of the $588 million jackpot, was posted around 10 p.m. Thursday only to bag 450,000 shares by Friday afternoon. News site Gawker identified the ticket as a hoax, saying the numbers on the ticket were “not in numerical order… [as] a real ticket would be” and called the image “poorly photoshopped.”

While one winner in Missouri has officially come forward, Powerball officials have yet to call on a second victor. Check the scoop from Newsy below.
