5 Ways to Celebrate MLK Day

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

4. Research MLK’s life.

Sure, we learned about him in elementary school, but how much do you actually remember? Watch Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech on YouTube or look up the five books he wrote and add them to your reading list. If you’re really a history buff, read up on the people that inspired him, such as Gandhi and Henry David Thoreau.

5. Practice courage.

Jay-Z said it best: “Martin Luther walked so Obama could run.” Without an insane amount of courage, the Civil Rights movement could have been a bust. Choose to be brave today. Try something you’ve never done, and take that scary next step towards a goal. There are no excuses!
