The Lead Singer Of Fun. Talks About The Band’s Six Grammy Award Nominations

Earlier this month, Beyonce revealed that she is a big fan of the band fun. And, really, can you blame her for loving them? Their music has been all over the radio over the course of the last six months thanks to their hit singles, “We Are Young,” featuring Janelle Monae, and “Some Nights,” which both soared to the top of the Billboard charts when they were released in 2012. So, no one was all that surprised when the band and their album, Some Nights—which was produced by Jeff Bhasker, who did extensive work on Kanye West’s last album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy—were nominated for six Grammy Awards last month.

But, recently, fun.’s lead singer Nate Ruess sat down with the Associated Press to talk about the group’s Grammy nods, and he revealed that he never really expected all the Grammy love that the band received. He also still sounded a little bit shocked that fun. had been nominated in some of the Grammy Awards’ biggest categories, including “Album of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” “Record of the Year,” and “Best New Artist.”

“It was just crazy,” he said. “Someone from the Grammys right before they announced the first award was like, ‘Buckle your seatbelt.’ I’m not a celebratory kind of guy, but I will say that I started drinking champagne. It’s my alcoholic beverage of choice, but perhaps then that makes every moment a celebration.”

Something tells us that fun. better have plenty of champagne on hand on Grammy night, which will take place on February 10 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Anyone else think they’re going to have a huge night other than us and Beyonce?
