Walmart Puts Purchase Limit On Ammunition

Folks feining for ammo are apparently flocking to Wal-mart. The one-stop-shop retail giant has imposed a cap on ammunition after demand for bullets increased.

The company had limited customers to three boxes of ammo per day, Reuters reports. “In order to take care of as many customers as possible, starting Thursday, Jan. 24, all ammunition sales were limited to three boxes per customer, per day as supply is limited at this time,” Wal-Mart spokesman David Tovar said.

Wal-mart locations have reportedly run out of ammo after the hike in demand. To keep things fair for customers, the company is limiting the supply. However, should they re-up their stock, the purchase limit may change.

“Over the years we have been very purposeful about striking the right balance between serving hunters and sportsmen and ensuring that we sell firearms responsibly. In fact, we became a charter member of Mayor Bloomberg’s coalition against illegal guns and adopted the 10-point code established by the Responsible Firearms Retailer Partnership that goes beyond what the law requires,” Tovar said.

The City Wire reports that Walmart currently sells more guns and ammunition than any other retailer in the U.S. Though firearms were pulled from majority of its locations in 2006, the company put ammo back on the shelf two years ago.
