Was Lil B Blocked From Performing At The 2013 Grammy Awards?

As we told you a couple of weeks ago, there are a bunch of really big acts set to perform at the 2013 Grammy Awards show next month. From Rihanna and fun. to The Black Keys and Taylor Swift, the Grammy organizers have put together a stellar lineup of artists that all have a ton of star power. But, there’s one smaller artist that was thisclose to being added to the Grammy lineup late last week who, sadly, will not be there now.

As part of the Grammy Awards this year, CBS is holding a contest called “Gig of a Lifetime” that will give one lucky new artist out there the opportunity to perform at the Grammys this year. All they need to do is get enough votes through the “Gig of a Lifetime” contest in order to win the chance to perform. The contest started back on January 10 and will run up until January 29. And, as of last week, the fans of rapper Lil B were really hoping to get him enough votes in order to help him take his act to the Grammys. His fans petitioned hard in order to try and get him a victory.

However, it now appears that Lil B will not perform at the Grammys this year. A punk rock band named King the Kid was just selected as the winner of the “Pacific” region in the “Gig of a Lifetime” contest. But, some of Lil B’s fans are upset because, before voting ended last week, Lil B’s name was seemingly removed from the ballot. He was also reportedly inaccessible through the “Gig of a Lifetime” site’s search engine. So, did CBS block him from receiving votes?

We don’t know. But, what we do know is that Lil B will not be performing at the Grammys this year. And, for that, we are sad. He doesn’t have the star power of the other performers who will be at the show this year. But, c’mon: Could you even imagine the weird rant that Lil B would go on if he took the Grammy stage? To help you picture it, we’ve included a bunch of photos of Lil B performing at shows in recent years. Click through them and imagine what he would have brought to the Grammys this year. Maybe next year, Based God…
