Fashion's Night Out Takes a Break in the U.S.
After four years, the annual festivities to kick off Fashion Week in the United States is taking a break. What became known as Fashion's Night Out featuring tons of sales, free cocktails and a chance to meet or spot your favorite celeb is on an American hiatus. According to WWD, "designers and retailers found that they have had to invest more and more of their resources to maintain a high level of quality, and there unquestionably was some backlash, especially from designers who were staging fashion shows at the same time. The sponsors of the event—Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America and NYC & Co. —made the joint decision to go on hiatus so retailers and designers can focus their budgets on projects that are more in line with their specific objectives, rather than a big event on one night in September."
Initially, FNO helped retailers during the recession, but over the years it grew into a party on the streets. Although it will be taking a break here in the states it will continue internationally in 19 countries.
Vixens, how do you feel about FNO's hiatus in the U.S. this year?
