Lakers Owner Jerry Buss Hospitalized With Cancer

Multiple sources are reporting that Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss is in the hospital and may be close to dying of cancer.

Radar broke the news, saying:

“The businessman and billionaire is at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and a source close to the situation tells that Lakers players have been calling with well-wishes and even stopping by to see him in what they expect to be his final days.”

Buss has owned the Lakers since 1979, and in that time the franchise has won 10 NBA championships and been the home for Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant and many other Laker legends.

The 79-year-old has been in poor health for much of the season, and has not been seen at a game in 2012-13. The team is still operated by his son and daughter, Jim and Jeannie, who act are high-ranking executives for the franchise.
