Fight Breaks Out Among 400 Inmates In Arizona Prison

A huge brawl broke out among 400 inmates at an Arizona prison complex.

Arizona Department of Corrections spokesman Bill Lamoreaux says authorities were able to quickly stop the fight that escalated Sunday morning (March 3) at the Whetstone Unit of the Arizona State Prison Complex in Tucson, according to the AP.

Nineteen people were reportedly injured, including two prison staffers who suffered minor injuries and 17 inmates who were taken to hospitals with injuries.

The Whetstone Unit — one of eight — houses 1,250 inmates. Prisoners from other units are said not to have been involved.

Officials are investigating the cause of the fight.
