LL Cool J To Headline Doritos’ Bold Stage With Public Enemy, Ice Cube and Doug E. Fresh At SXSW

LL Cool J shows no signs of slowing down.

From hosting the 55th annual Grammy Awards this past February to prepping his forthcoming studio album Authentic hip-Hop, Todd Smith will also be heading to Austin, TX as a headlining act at South By Southwest Music Festival. He will be gracing the Doritos #BoldStage with Public Enemy, Ice Cube and Doug E. Fresh.

“It’s just going to be really authentic and just a lot of energy,” LL told VIBE when asked what crowds could expect from a legendary line-up. “It’ll be generational. You’ll see parents bringing their kids and people who are seeing some of us perform for the first time, along with people who are seeing Public Enemy and Cube perform a thousand times. It’ll be a nice mixture of people.”

LL says the concert will also be a unique interactive experience for fans as Doritos will allow them to select the opening act, one of three artists Doritos chose from around the world including Devin Miles, Seth Sentry and Snow Tha Product. Fans will also handpick major elements of the show including the special effects with the lighting and 62-foot vending machine, as well as LL’s set list.

So what is the “Mama Said Knock You Out” MC hoping the fans request? “I have no idea. It remains to be seen,” he said. “It might be some album cut that I don’t even remember, which I’m crossing my fingers they don’t do.”

As for his pre-show regimen, LL says snacking is highly possible. “Even in my book, I can have a cheat day here and there,” he said, revealing that his favorite flavor is the original nacho cheese. “So maybe I’ll stick my hand in a bowl of Doritos once in a while.”

Concertgoers can sound off on what they would like to see at the show by using the hashtag #BoldStage on Twitter prior to the main event, which goes down Thursday, March 14. The concert will also stream online via Doritos’ Facebook page.
