Model Heidi Klum To Join ‘America’s Got Talent’ As A Judge

Willkommen, America’s Got Talent!

Actress, businesswoman and talent model Heidi Klum is bringing her A game to the NBC reality show as a judge, the network announced Monday morning (3/4).

PEOPLE got a chance to speak with Klum, who told them, “I just arrived in New Orleans, and it was hard to go to sleep last night. I’m not sure who will be more nervous though — me or the contestants!”

Klum joins returning judges Howie Mandel and Howard Stern and new judge Melanie Brown on the NBC talent competition. For the show’s first seven seasons, America’s Got Talent had a three-person judging panel, most recently with Stern, Mandel and Sharon Osbourne last season. Fox’s American Idol has shifted between a three- and four-judge panel, while NBC’s The Voice and Fox’s The X Factor have only featured four mentors.

Paul Telegdy, president of NBC alternative and late-night programming released a statement championing Heidi Klum’s stellar impact on the show, saying, “Heidi has an amazing career across multiple media platforms, and has built a brand that is a force in the entertainment business. She has achieved superstardom while balancing being a businesswoman and hard-working mom, bringing a huge amount of experience, discernment and taste to the panel.”

This isn’t the first time that Klum has judged a televised competition. In addition to showcasing her skills on Project Runway, she also hosts Germany’s Next Top Model.
