Nicki Minaj Covers ELLE Magazine’s April 2013 Issue [Video]

Nicki Minaj trades in the wigs and heavy pink makeup for a more natural look on the cover of ELLE magazine’s April issue. Under straight blonde hair (dark roots peeking through), the head Barbie in charge rocks an unzipped black leather Tom Ford jacket (breasts peeking through).

As stripped as her make-under for the fashion mag, Nicki pulls back layers on her childhood. “I went through a lot of bullying early on,” she admits. “Girls made my life a living hell.”

Later, she shares advice on how women can command respect. “My advice to women in general: Even if you’re doing a nine-to-five job, treat yourself like a boss. Not arrogant, but be sure of what you want— and don’t allow people to run anything for you without your knowledge. You want everyone to know, Okay, I can’t play games with her. I have to do right by this woman. That’s what it’s all about.”

The Pink Friday singer has reached a new plateau in building her empire, opening up avenues in beauty, fashion and prime time television as American Idol’s newest judge.

The next stop? World domination.

“I’m thinking of a legacy that I can be proud of and wealth that my grandchildren can use to go to college,” she says. “So world domination— in terms of providing for my family— is absolutely my goal.”

The fashion spread includes designs by Jeremy Scott for Adidas, Dolce & Gabbana and Salvatore Ferragamo.

The issue hits newsstands on March 18.
