Say Goodbye To Google Reader Come July

After eight years, Google will cancel its Google Reader capabilities on July 1, the popular search engine announced today.

“These changes are never easy,” Google said in its blog post, “but by focusing our efforts, we can concentrate on building great products that really help in their lives.”

Google Reader offers a filtered source of news, customized by the user. Upon subscribing to a website, the feature includes new content from that site and others that have been favorited. Google offered its platform Google Takeout as an alternative to the RSS reader.

The brand has been working on extending their business to tangible products, such as their latest line of smartphones and the futuristic Google glasses.
