Schoolboy Q Promises ‘Oxymoron’ Debut for 2013 Release

2013 will mark the third consecutive year West Coast rap label Top Dawg Entertainment releases a debut album from one of its affiliates.

Following the overwhelming success of Kendrick Lamar’s Good Kid M.A.A.D. City, Schoolboy Q will step up to the plate next with the release of Oxymoron. Just yesterday, Q released “Yay Yay,” a drug induced tune that will serve as the first single off the project.

News broke last year, that the South Central rapper was prepping his major label debut and had decided that a 2013 time frame for the project was more realistic.

“It’ll probably be out in a few months,” Q told MTV News. “We gon’ get these singles right, get ‘em together and place everything in order. Then we gon’ get it crackin’ from there. Oxymoron is definitely coming this year and we gon’ have some fun.”

His 2012 iTunes exclusive project, Habits & Contradictions, debuted at #111 on the Billboard 200 charts with first-week sales of 3,900 digital copies.
