Fabolous, Pusha T Bring ‘Beauty’ and ‘Mercy’ to NYC Gig

Def Jam duo Fabolous and Pusha T made their third stop on the Life Is So Exciting tour last night at the world famous B.B. Kings Blues Club in the heart of New York City.

The show was a homecoming of sorts for both the Brooklyn go-hard Fab and the Bronx-born Pusha. NYC fans piled in to see each rapper perform tracks from their latest mixtapes and promote the summertime release of their upcoming albums.

The night started off on a G.O.O.D. note with Pusha emphasizing every lyric to his Young Money diss track “Exodus.” His bible-themed onslaught continued as he performed “New God Flow” before delving into his latest project, Wrath of Caine.

His Rick Ross-assisted track “Millions” proved to be a fan-favorite of the night and the peak of Pusha’s performance. “This that shit that ya’ll wanted,” Pusha T rapped acapella. “This shit cook up hard, don’t it? Ya’ll gotta beg my pardon on it, but this shit sound like God, don’t it?”

Additional performances of “Mercy,” “Blocka” and “Trust You” pleased spectators before Pusha packed up to do it all over again at the nearby St. John’s University.

Fabolous’ portion of the night was amplified with the presence of a live band behind him. Donning a Jackie Robinson throwback jersey, Fab knocked out hit after hit from his The Soul Tape 2 mixtape. Catering to the “real niggas,” the 35-year-old rapper brought out up-and-coming Brooklyn native Troy Ave to croon the chorus of their collaborative track, “Only Life I Know.” The next three tracks also came from his late 2012 project — “Diced Pineapples,” “Beauty” and “I Want You Back” were dedicated to the ladies.

Fab then urged his fans to sing-along with him to an array of songs ranging from his first studio album Ghetto Fabolous to his most recent Loso’s Way. “Ready,” his radio friendly record of the moment, was spared for last.

Both rappers will head to the nation’s capital this Saturday (April 27) to continue their 30-city cross-country tour.
