Pick 5: The Hottest Rap Songs of the Week

VIBE rounds up the five hottest rap songs of the week.

Jay-Z “Open Letter”
With so much drama following him, Jay-Z goes on the record and puts his critics on blast. In “Open Letter” (produced by Swizz Beatz and featuring Trey Songz), Jay addresses his controversial trip to Cuba, touting, “I turned Havana to Atlanta” and even claims, “Obama said, “Chill, you gonna get me impeached/ You don’t need this shit anyway/Chill with me on the beach.” The White House saw it a little differently. Maybe a response record from Press Secretary Jay Carney is next?

Miguel feat. Kendrick Lamar “How Many Drinks (Remix)”
Miguel enlists everyone’s favorite rapper, Kendrick Lamar, for the sensual remix to his “How Many Drinks.” As Kendrick raps, “Life is a bitch, but every dog has his day.” Cheers to that.

Pusha T “Numbers On The Boards”
Pusha T spits viciously on this track with weird, minimalist production from Don Cannon (and possibly Kanye West). The anticipation for King Push’s debut My Name Is My Name only continues to swelter. Eghck!

Lil Wayne feat. Meek Mill “I’m Good (Terrorists)”
Wayne and Meek unleash this high-energy cut that is apparently a leftover from Wayne’s I Am Not A Human Being II. Wayne reopens inquiries about his addiction with lines like ‘Round here, you sniff these lines, you don’t cross them.” Too soon?

Ghostface Killah feat. Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa & Killa Sin “Murder Spree”
Some rapidy rap rap for the real hip-hop heads. Tony Starks gets help from this Wu-Tang connect for a track from the upcoming horror-themed concept album Twelve Reasons To Die with producer Adrian Younge and executive produced by RZA.
