14-Year-Old Queens Girl Killed By Stray Bullet

A 14-year-old girl was tragically shot and killed in Queens on Saturday night (May 20). At around 9 p.m., the victim, Daja Robinson, was shot in the head by an unidentified gunman while aboard the Q6 bus on Sutphin Blvd.

“Terrible – this is, as I say, another senseless shooting,” said New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.

According to reports, Robinson was leaving a Sweet 16 party with friends just before she was killed. The gunman fired at least nine shots from a 40-caliber gun, blasting holes alongside the bus on the Queens strip. Robinson was struck in the right temple and pronounced dead on arrival at Jamaica Hospital. Police describe the suspect as a male between ages 18 and 25, wearing a black sweater. It is not believed that Robinson was an intended victim in the shooting.

“One thing is clear — she was not, in our judgment, the target of the shooting,” Kelly said.

Members of the Queens community expressed outrage regarding the heinous shooting, while police are still undergoing investigations. A $12,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of a suspect.
