4 Ways to Celebrate Cinco De Mayo

Cinco De MayoContrary to popular belief, Cinco De Mayo is not “Mexican Independence Day” (that’s actually September 16th), it’s a celebration of Mexico’s victory over the French after a hard battle in Puebla.

In America we like to celebrate with alcohol, but you don’t have to throw back shots of tequila to participate in the festivities. Choose any of these five ways to make the most of the holiday.

1. Decorate

What’s a celebration without decorations? Treat Cinco de Mayo the same way you get into any holiday spirit: hang a traditional Mexican piñata (or make your own), rock a red lip and subtle green eyeshadow or don a sombrero. Ole!
