Cashier Sells Herself $1 Million Lotto Ticket
One lucky Powerball winner in Missouri can credit herself for every bit of her $1 million jackpot.
Mary-Jane Hart, a part time convenient worker store worker at the Heartland Pit Stop in Doniphan, MO had no idea her Saturday shift would change her life forever. Before checking out that fateful day, Hart decided to purchase 1 ticket in the $600 million drawing. Her expectations were modest at best.
“I’ve always wanted to win a jackpot so that I could go to way more Nascar races than I go to, which is a lot.” said Mary-Jane Hart. She even used Nascar drivers' numbers as her picks. But little did Mary know that she sold herself a winning ticket worth $1 million.
“Someone had called me and told me that there was a winning ticket sold at the store, so I went to the convenience store at Poplar Bluff and checked my ticket and it said I was a winner.” said Mary-Jane Hart.
The part time cashier matched every number but the Powerball which netted her the money. She told reporters that despite her winnings she'll continue to work two jobs.
“Everybody needs to play lottery because it’s a proven fact that if you think you can’t win, you can.” said Mary-Jane Hart.
