Melanie Fiona Performs A Capella Set at SOBs
Melanie Fiona gave a her fans an intimate show Wednesday night (May 1) at New York City's SOBs.
In a energy-filled room the Grammy nominated singer belted out her popular tracks, including "Wrong Side of a Love Song" and "Give It To Me Right." She continued the momentum from her original tracks to her recently constructed YouTube covers for Wale's "Bad," Kendrick Lamar's "B**ch Don't Kill My Vibe," and Drake's "Started From The Bottom." She accompanied her rap alter ego with her MF fitted that fans begged her to make available for their own collections. She even dipped into her Caribbean roots for a dancehall breakdown before returning to her hits.
"The music I make is not what the industry says is hot. It's what the people says is hot," she declared on stage. "If 10 people love it, if 10 million love it, then I'm blessed."
Her outstanding performance resulted in an encore, a set of a capella tunes she allowed the audience to request. Upon returning to the stage and ripping up the set list, she ran through "Rock, Paper, Scissors," "Fool for You" and "Bones."
