Metro-North Trains Collide Near Fairfield, Conn.


The Metropolitan Transportation Authority reported Friday evening (May 17) that two adjacent Metro-North trains collided due to a derailment on an eastbound locomotive.

The Fairfield Police Department recorded that 50 people were injured but no fatalities after the occurrence near the Fairfield station in Connecticut. Four people are in critical condition.

Metro-North service between Stamford and New Haven is suspended until further notice.
