Nicki Minaj To Leave 'American Idol'
The "million-dollar question" has now been answered.
Nicki Minaj has officially announced her exit to Us Weekly.
After a season filled with drama at the judges' panel (mostly courtesy of Mariah Carey), the Young Money rapstress is chucking the deuces to the singing competition, whose droopy ratings have already triggered rumors that all four judges would get the ax anyway.
"It's safe to say she isn't coming back to Idol," an insider said. "She's okay with it. She had a great time but was only going to do one season anyway."
It would cut out a slice of free time for the head Barb in charge, who is already tied up with a new album, touring and endorsement deals.
While her on-screen foe MC and country star Keith Urban has yet to comment on her standing with AI, her former manager and fellow judge Randy Jackson has already said his goodbyes.
"Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season," he told Us in a statement. "I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It's been a life changing opportunity, but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures."
Could producers be making way for Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Pink and Diddy?
