Coffee Talk: Danica Patrick Defends her Status as Female Race Car Driver
Despite her many accomplishments as a race car driver, Danica Patrick is still being bullied by the boys. Earlier this week, Fox Sports Analyst Kyle Petty labeled Patrick as a marketing machine and not a driver.
"Danica has been the perfect example of somebody who can qualify better than what she runs," Petty said. "She can go fast, but she can't race. I think she's come a long way, but she's still not a race car driver. And I don't think she's ever going to be a race car driver."
Yesterday (June 28), Danica laughed off the comments during a press conference, noting that she will always be criticized for what she does.
"I really don't care. There's going to be people who believe in you and people who don't. Plenty of people say bad things about me. I see it on Twitter. Some people want me to die. But at the end of the day, you get over that stuff and trust you're doing a good job for the people who believe in you."
Westboro Baptist Church, a popular hate group in Topeka, Kansas, recently announced they would picket Taylor Swift's August 3 concert in Kansas City, MO. "This girl is a whore. Who else is gonna say that if it’s not the church of the Lord Jesus? She’s coming into our backyard. We’re gonna go preach to her, ” said WBC member Ben Phelps. (Huffington Post)
