Vixen Chat: Scotty Rebel Talks Working With French Montana, Says ‘I’m Unpredictable’

Scotty Rebel

Would you say it’s difficult being an attractive female in this industry?
As long as you know where you stand, it shouldn’t be difficult at all. In the beginning of my journey, I ran into people who didn’t want to work with me, or wanted something else in return.

What does it mean to be a Vixen?
It means everything; individuality, being able to stand up for myself and being a young black woman. Being ambitious and always on top of my game. Not letting society determine what’s best for me because I could’ve been in the streets. I’m following my dreams no matter what.

What advice would you give to a young girl pursuing music?
If you want it as bad as you say you do, you’ll know exactly what to do. Keep grinding and keep working, stay focused—that’s going to determine how hard you hustle, how hard you work.

How did you get your clever nickname?
Well, my last name is Scott. Ethiopia, the President of Motown sat down with me and I told her about my journey and my path and she was like you’re a rebel. My first name is Gail, which sounds like an old lady—so people used to call me Scotty.

Are you still rebellious?
I don’t want to say I’m rebellious because that’s cliche. I’m all about individuality, being yourself and being comfortable with it.
