Vixen Chat: Claudette Ortiz Talks “Reality,” Recording, and Re-emergence

Claudette Ortiz R&B DivasClaudette Ortiz took her first sips of celebrity over a decade ago. She was beautiful. She was talented. And she had top producers like Wyclef Jean on speed dial. She was primed to pop off.

At the time, Ortiz was a member of the R&B trio City High, and their single “What Would You Do” was ubiquitous. The group ultimately disbanded in 2003, and Ortiz attempted a solo career three years later. She released a solo single “Can’t Get Enough” with Ma$e and was featured on a Wyclef track for the “Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights” soundtrack.

Even with the deck stacked in her favor, her career still seemed to fold. Fast forward a few years and she’s ready to play again–and this time, the queen has an ace: TV One’s “R&B Divas: L.A.,” a new reality series that’s giving her plenty of exposure. If you’re inspired by her candid character, it’s a safe bet to pick up her first solo album slated for a 2014 release.
