Designer Tom Ford ‘Flattered’ By Jay-Z Song

Jay-Z namechecks many a luxurious thing on his twelfth studio album Magna Carta Holy Grail but none as attention-grabbing as the Timbaland-produced “Tom Ford.”

Named after the high-end designer, the bouncy track shows Hov rejecting a hip-hop favorite in favor of the name brand. “I don’t pop Molly/ I rock Tom Ford,” he raps.

It didn’t take long for Ford himself to get wind of the song. “I am completely flattered,” Tom Ford told Billboard. “I mean, come on, who would not want a Jay-Z song named after them?”

And the adoration is mutual. In the visual for his collaboration with Justin Timberlake on “Suit & Tie,” Shawn suited up in the American fashion magnate’s threads. The exquisite taste apparently runs in the family as wife Beyoncé slipped on a baby-sized Tom Ford kitten heel, custom-made for their bundle of joy, Blue Ivy.

Jay’s MCHG was released July 4 exclusively to Samsung users and hit stores July 9. Cop your copy on iTunes here.
