Kate Middleton Delivers Baby Boy in London

Cue the “aww’s.” The Dutchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton has officially given birth to a baby boy. Just moments ago, Kensington Palace announced that she and Prince William’s first born arrived in the afternoon (London time) at 8lbs and 6 oz.

“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight. The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are delighted at the news,” said an official statement.

Middleton arrived at St. Mary’s Hospital at 6am alongside her hubby where press camped outside for nearly two weeks to capture the historic moment.  Kate gave birth in the exclusive Lindo Wing, the same place Princess Diana gave birth to sons William and Harry over 20 years ago.

According to E! Online, an official announcement was made by way of a posted bulletin outside the hospital. In 24 hours, it will be transferred to the Privy Council, a group of British Parliament members and the Queen’s advisors.

Kate and Will’s newborn is Prince Charles first grandson, brother Harry’s first nephew and Queen Elizabeth II’s third great grandchild. He will be given the official title of Prince and succeed his father for the British throne.
