Miley Cyrus Responds to Jay-Z’s ‘Somewhere in America’ Lyric

The release of Jay-Z’s Magna Carter Holy Grail was more than a music release —it was an event. At the stroke of midnight on the 4th of July, fans scrambled to their nearest radio or Samsung phone to listen to the highly anticipated album laced with Timbaland beats and high-profile guest appearances. For many, his mention of a certain famous twerker in “Somewhere in America” was one of the LP’s many highlights.

“They see I’m still putting work in, cause somewhere in America, Miley Cyrus is still twerkin’,” says the rapper about Cyrus’ obsession with the dance craze.

Yesterday, shortly after Jay-Z’s impromptu Twitter Q&A, the “We Can’t Stop” singer addressed her critics while acknowledging Mr. Carter’s shout out.

“Call it what you want. But I don’t see Mr. Carter shoutin any of you bitches out. #twerkmileytwerk,”she tweeted.

While Miley’s bad girl behavior is constantly up for debate, her spot in pop culture history is cemented with a Jay-Z co-sign.
