Ohio Kidnapping Victims Neglect To Thank Hero Charles Ramsey

Movies & TV

Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight were saved by fellow Clevelander, Charles Ramsey, and yet, in a new video neglect to thank him for his heroics. Why?!

The three Cleveland, Ohio kidnapping victims who were held captive for a decade have spoken publicly for the first time since their dramatic rescue back in May. The clip, which you can see below, finds the trio thanking the public for their support, their donations, and respecting their privacy.

Berry, 26, whose six-year-old daughter was born as a result of a sexual rape by their alleged captor Ariel Castro, says her child is “growing stronger every day.” “First and foremost, I want everyone to know how happy I am to be home with my family and my friends,” she said. “It’s been unbelievable. I want to thank everyone who has helped me and my family through this entire ordeal. Everyone who has been there to support us — it’s been a blessing to have such an outpouring of love and kindness.”

While Knight especially thanked the public for their donations, which she says she is using to build a new life, one name was missing from the list—Charles Ramsey. This is extremely strange considering that Ramsey was the one to initially discover and free the captive women.

Maybe it was Ms. DeJesus’s parents giving Charles a subliminal shout-out when they urged other families with missing loved ones not to be afraid to ask for help. “Parents in general that [do have] a loved one missing, please do me one big favor — count on your neighbors. Don’t be afraid to ask for their help, because help is available,” said Nancy Ruiz, Gina’s mother.

Castro, 52, has been charged with murder, kidnapping and rape. He could face the death penalty if he is convicted of the aggravated murder charge, which is a capital offense in Ohio if it occurs in connection with a kidnapping.

Should the trio have thanked Charles Ramsey outright for his heroics? Let us know in the comments section below.
