ScHooLboy Q On Meeting Eminem: ‘He’s Just A Good Dude’

Black Hippy fans and Eminem stans pumped their arms in excitement after a photo of the TDE crew standing next to Slim Shady in the studio popped up on Instagram. But curb the thirst, folks, because rapper Schoolboy Q says meeting Detroit’s finest was more of a chill session than a musical one.

“We just sat there, we chilled, we talked,” Q told MTV News. “We expressed what we liked about each other’s music, we talked about Slaughterhouse, we talked about his artists, we talked about us individually. He’s just a good dude, just chillin’.”

With the “Yay Yay” rapper fine-tuning his upcoming solo debut Oxymoron, Q says he didn’t dive into asking Em for some bars after introductions. “We weren’t trying to go in there all, ‘Oh let me get a verse.’ We hate when people do that to us, so we actually wanted to go in there and be cool and feel him out and see what was going on before anybody asked for a verse,” he explained.

Schoolboy’s album will, however, feature his Black Hippy affiliates Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock, as well as his toddler daughter. But don’t be surprised if one of the Top Dawg reps does appear alongside Marshall Mathers on a track.

Q said while laughing, “I’m pretty sure one of the homeys gonna ask for a verse though.”
