Tamera Mowry Talks Being ‘Traditional Black Woman’; Denies Mentioning Rihanna in Interview

The Real cohost and reality star Tamera Mowry-Housley recently shared her take on being the “traditional black woman” with CocoaFab, where she gave six tips to women seeking marriage and motherhood.

“I’m old school and that’s just how I am. It’s in my DNA,” said the new mom. “I had to get to the point where I just had to embrace carrying the torch for the traditional girls out there. I love representing the traditional black woman.”

Tamera encourages women to be refined, rather than ratchet when quoting her grandmother who always said, “dare to be different.”

The actress faced a bit of controversy after the post was published, as the article referenced Rihanna as an example of “overly sexy, turnt up girls.”  However, she claims in a series of tweets that she never mentioned Rihanna or Chris Brown in the interview.

Tamera, who remained a virgin until she was 29, also added that she doesn’t believe in “shacking up”, and that practice doesn’t make perfect when it comes to sex.

“If you start having sex at such a young age, by the time you’re in your 30s and 40s, it’s old. And you’re trying many different ways to keep it new,” she said. “I wanted to experience all of that once I got married and living with my husband.”
