Watch: The First Look At Lars Von Trier's 'Nymphomaniac'
How does an ordinary bag of chocolate sweets become a symbol of sexual victory? Intriguing minds want to know.
Clutch your pearls tight and hold onto your virginity, Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac is online and it's probably going to offend some people. This first look at the filmmakers controversial film, which stars Shia LaBeouf, Christian Slater and Uma Thurman, finds two newcomers treating sex as a sport while using public transport.
Joe (Stacy Martin) and her more sexually liberated friend B (Sophie Kennedy Clark) make a bet on how many men they can seduce on the ride. With a long train journey ahead, the grand prize is a delicious bag of chocolate sweets, and it soon becomes clear to Joe that in order to win, she needs to lure the prey into biting the hook like a skilled fisherman.
The film concentrates on the adult Joe, played by Charlotte Gainsbourg (Melancholia), a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac who relates her life story to Stellan Skarsgard's Seligman after he saves her from a beating.
In addition to LaBeouf, Slater, and Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Jean-Marc Barr and Udo Kier also star. The film will hit theaters in two parts, and two versions (hardcore and softcore, apparently) and we can expect it to hit our theaters this winter.
