Casper Smart Confirms Jennifer Lopez's Return To 'American Idol'
Just when you thought that she was "over and done" with the popular show, it seems that they've pulled her back in... according to her booski Casper Smart.
Months of speculation has gone on whether Lopez would actually return to American Idol as a judge for the Fox reality competition, and her boyfriend may have just let the cat out of the bag. It may have seemed that the young heart may have spoken too soon when he confirmed to E! News that the singer-actress will be returning. When asked if Lopez was planning to rejoin the singing show, Casper Smart replied, "Yes."
Apparently, he though that Fox had already made their announcement on who the judges would be for the program's 13th season. "Returning to American Idol makes sense for Jennifer this season," a source released to The Hollywood Reporter. "The show's schedule will allow her to focus on new film and TV projects at the same time." With her twins readying themselves to start school this year, Lopez will have more time for her family and the millions of adulating fans anticipating her return.
The deal is not closed yet, but according to Idol host Ryan Seacrest that the Fox series would be announcing the new judging panel "very, very soon" — though he probably didn't count on Smart offering up the goodies so soon. The breaking news blurb also muses that former contestants such as Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, and Adam Lambert have all been cited as possible returnees to the judges' chair.
American Idol will return for its 13th season next year in January.
