Gentleman’s Corner: Mehcad Brooks Talks Role on ‘Necessary Roughness’ and Explains What He likes in a Woman

mehcad brooksDo you pig out on that day?

You would not believe I’d have a bowl of Brazilian food, a hamburger, a bowl of cereal, pizza, and cookies. Then once every 8 days I’ll fast and I’ll just have water, tea, and coffee. That one day you fast you burn off all the calories from yesterday and the ones your about to put in your body tomorrow.

Do you ever consider going back to modeling?

Yes and no. Yes I would do the right campaign, I would do the denim or formal wear; if it’s the right thing, yeah but you won’t see me in fashion week walking the cat walk.

Will you attend fashion week this year?

I’ll attend it, I have a great time but you won’t see me working. Those models are too skinny for me; I can’t keep myself [that size]. That was the hardest part about modeling; it was a really strict diet. I’m naturally a big guy, you’re not going to fit the clothes and if you’re taking pictures you’re going to look humungous if you’re over 210 and I naturally stay around 218-220.

Are you dating anyone now?

Not really, I’m single. I work my butt off, I shoot the show, and I’m in-between cities. It’s kind of hard even if you find somebody you like, they’re like “how often are you in town” and it’s not a lot, not as much as the other dudes she may like. So it’s kind of hard to have a relationship when you’re nomadic.

A lot of our readers wanted to know if they could take you on a date, what would a date with Mehcad be like?

It depends on the woman [laughs] but seriously I love to eat, I love trying all different kinds of food, I love really good food. No matter what kind of food it is, I love it so we’d definitely start off with dinner. If she’s taking me on a date I want flowers, I’m kidding. I like conversation, most of the dates I have it’s one of two things, we’d go to dinner and then we’d spend 4 or 5 hours at the restaurant getting to know somebody.

What do you like in a female?

I don’t really have a type. I’ve dated pretty much every type of woman there is, good and bad [laughs] so for me when it came to woman I was willing to try anything once. Physically I like a woman who takes care of herself, takes pride in her appearance but doesn’t try to hard. Can dress but also leave something to the imagination. I can’t date a woman who’s not intelligent and who doesn’t have an interest in doing different things. Nothing against women who like a simple life and are set in their ways but I like to have somebody who’s adventurous and versatile in their thinking.

Would you rather have a girl who watched sports or who watched reality TV?

I’m attracted to girls who like reality TV. I’ve gotten introduced to Love and Hip Hop, which is a show I never would have watched. I watch politics, USA, Showtime and HBO more or less on TV. If somebody turns on Love and Hip Hop and Stevie J’s making it rain, I’m like that’s awesome [laughs].

Would you be on a reality TV show?

Our last question comes from our follower, “how do you stay away from the pressures and stress of Hollywood?”

That’s a good question. I’ve been in Hollywood since August 25, 1999 at 2:25pm. The first 3 ½ years were strictly school and trying to get an agent. When I got to a level of success I understood that I came to LA with $300 in my pocket and I don’t take that for granted for one minute. I came here to do something and the only reason I live in LA is to achieve that goal. Otherwise I would still live in Austin [Texas], or I’d live in New York, or I’d live in South Africa or Paris. Also, a lot of my jobs take me to Atlanta, NY, or Morocco for 6 months. I’m not going to always be in LA. If I get off my center I hop in a plane 2 hours away and go home to my mom in Austin. She tells me to take out the trash and clean up the dog sh** in the back [laughs].
